I was inspired to share some background on the 5 different Human Design types, based on the vast and varied ways we tend to show our shadows, or low vibe side, depending on our unique Energy Type.
Whether Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector or Reflector…
Women, primarily, tend to lean into the low vibe if we’re taught, throughout our lifetimes, that we have to contort ourselves to be accepted.
We do this, oftentimes, by making ourselves small, doing things in order to be liked, becoming people-pleasers, sabotaging our own success, distrusting our own impulses, not daring to fill up the space we were born to take up, and inso many more ways.
How we arrive at our shadow side depends largely on our life experience, as well as our upbringing, cultural and family values, socioeconomic status, and also, in a very big way, on our Human Design Energy Type.
Which is what this video covers today.
If you don’t have your Type down pat yet, grab your free Human Design chart above and look at the detailed summaries that show up for you underneath it to find out.
An interview that one of my favorite comedians, Mike Birbiglia, did on his podcast, “Working It Out,” recently with fellow standup comic Rachel Feinstein, gave me the idea to dig into this subject and talk about Energy Types in this way.
Feinstein hilariously and rather honestly talks about how she notices the way her daughter, and how she, herself, will give others “an out” instead of just expressing what they want with confidence.
For instance, she overheard her daughter asking a friend, “Do you want to come to my birthday party, or no?”
Likewise, she’ll say to a fellow comic, “Do you wanna come to my show, or no?”
As if to suggest, “…because you totally don’t have to, and I can see why you really wouldn’t want to, so maybe just never mind…”
You’ve done it, right? I’ve definitely said stuff like this.
Listen to the whole episode, because it’ll give you a good laugh, or fast forward to about minute 41 of the interview to catch the bit I’m referring to. If you’re a female in today’s world, it’ll probably make you nod right alongside her.
This conversation really struck a chord with me and got me thinking about how so many of us women, but men too, learn to undercut ourselves in hundreds of ways,
but how we really don’t have to operate in this way any longer, and we really do need to stop it, because it’s incredibly disempowering and it’s keeping us from reaching our full potential.
With a few shifts of perspective, and a helpful reframe about what you’re really made of and what you’re really capable of, based upon the uniqueness of your amazing Human Design Type, you can start to access your radiance again and reclaim the power that’s been yours all along.
No more under-cutting, no more people-pleasing, no more playing small or self-sabotage.
Full, unapologetic embrace of your true authenticity is the name of the game!
That’s my goal for every one of you here.
I hope what I’m sharing in the video is supportive.
